The Payroll Analyst II is responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, distribution and reconciliation of payroll and the administration of the payroll system. Reviews the computation of pay and associated deductions for accuracy. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of city, state, provincial, local, and federal legislation affecting payroll; understands and follows applicable provisions. Prepares required tax filings and other reporting. May coordinate payroll processing with an outside service provider. Responds to and resolves any inquiries regarding paychecks or payroll reporting. Ensures payroll issues are escalated and resolved promptly, provides advice and guidance on payroll related matters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Processing of weekly, bi-weekly, off-cycle payrolls from start to finish.

  • Responsible for providing key administrative, strategic and process improvement support to payroll and prevailing wage processing.

  • Monitors, reviews, and ensures that all compliance required records are completed in a timely and accurate manner, and are on file and ready for auditing (Prevailing Wage and Regular Payroll).

  • Coordinate and or complete the import of hours/fringes/backup information into electronic databases. Systematically monitor, audit and support document verifications for multiple data feeds in support of the payroll process. Take appropriate action to ensure process efficiencies.

  • Leads quarterly and annual reconciliations.

  • Leads Year-End processing along with W-2 preparation.

  • Responsible for maintaining and processing various administrative payments, reporting and compliance for benefits administration.

  • Correspondingly investigate, documents, and provide resolution methods on discrepancies and errors. Responsible for maintaining reporting and compliance with internal accounting practices (e.g.: GL reporting, Journal Entries, etc.).

  • Provide support in other key Project Administration capacities as the workload requires, partnering closely with HRIS/IT resources.

  • Generate ad hoc reporting from HRIS system for a variety of human resource, executive, compliance and other business partners.

  • Perform periodic internal audits of various payroll areas and prepare materials for external or internal auditors.

  • Other duties as assigned in support of the operation.

Estimated Rate of Pay $71,000-$80,000 Annually.

  • Prior HRIS experience required, preferably Ultimate Software (UKG Pro and UKG Ready).

  • A minimum of 5+ years of multi-state full-cycle payroll experience required. Prevailing wage and PLA experience a desired. A combination of education and experience will be considered.

Preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to research, reach out for assistance, and provide creative solutions to real-time challenges with consistent follow through.

  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite, Acrobat Adobe, and Labor Compliance Software, UKG Pro, UKG Ready, LCP Tracker, Points North, etc.

  • General understanding of CA labor code, regulations, practices, and methods.
